5. Psilocybin temporarily distributes brain networks

The psychhedelic psilocybin of the drug briefly wipes out traces of people’s nerve fingers, the basic activity of the unique brain for an individual. Some of the biggest changes occur in an area called the Default Mode Network, which can play a role in creating a sense of itself. Most drug effects usually go away within a day. A better understanding of psilocybin can lead to better mental health treatments (Sn: 8/10/24, p. 12).

4. Social media damage adolescent mental health, show increasing evidence. What about now?

As evidence increases for the harmful effects of social media on adolescent mental health, more rigorous research is needed to examine mechanisms behind this possible causal connection and why certain groups are more at risk of damage. Only then can politics, health professionals, parents and other adults in protecting young people on the Internet (Sn: 3/9/24, p. 14th).

3 why the overall solar eclipse of 2024 will be such a great job

The April 8 solar eclipse visible on North America was extraordinary, even by the solar standards of the eclipse. The moon was at a point in its orbit that brought it close to the earth. The sun was also close to its roof activity, known as the solar maximum. This fusion of factors gave spectators a particularly dark and long eclipse and scientists an exciting opportunity to study the sun (Sn: 3/9/24, p. 24).

2. Geoscientists found the most dangerous part of a famous west coast fault

Seismic data reveals that Megathrust Cascadia, a massive fault in the northwestern Pacific, is not a single, continuous fracture, but consisting of at least four segments. The most dangerous segment appears to extend from the shores of the southern Vancouver Island through the State of Washington (Sn: 7/13/24 & 7/27/24, p. 6).

1. DNA from old hair helps confirm the macabre diet of two 19th -century lions

Genetic analysis of old hair stuck in the jaws of two famous lions reveal the diet of beasts. Called “Man-Eatters of Tsavo”, lions roam Kenya more than a century ago, making snack in Giraffe, Oryx, Zebra, Waterbuck, Wildebeest and, yes, people. The method of analysis can help scientists create the habits of eating other long -term dead predators (Sn: 10/11/24).
